DCD training

Dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), is a coordination-development disorder that affects a child's coordination and motor skills. Children with DCD often have difficulty planning and executing movements. Execution of movement may be slow or inaccurate. You often see the first symptoms at an early age, but it really becomes evident when children reach elementary school age.
When your child has DCD, daily tasks such as dressing, writing, running and other activities can be quite challenging. This can sometimes lead to frustration, uncertainty or anxiety, especially in social situations. Fine motor tasks can also be difficult at school, which can affect their school performance.
With pediatric physical therapy, we support children in developing their motor skills. We practice fine and gross motor skills, help them plan movements and understand motor tasks. We also improve sensory information processing, allowing them to better regulate stimuli and coordinate movements. Our approach helps children enjoy daily activities more and participate again in group and sports activities. In this way, they reach their full potential and increase their resilience against psychosocial problems.
Do you think your child has DCD? Or do you have a question about this? If so, please feel free to contact us.
